Cupping, Guasha and More

The following services are available either as needle-free stand-alone treatments or as add-ons to an acupuncture treatment.  Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Cupping

Cupping is a treatment that involves placing glass or silicon “cups” on the skin to create a suction.  The cups can then be moved up and down the back or neck, for example, to release muscle and fascial tension, and to increase proper circulation of blood and fluids.

Facial cupping is a more gentle but just as moving treatment for the face and neck, often after a facial acupuncture treatment.

I will post a video here for you to see cupping in action in the near future!

This video demonstrates how to administer a guasha treatment at home, since we can't do it for you in the office right now!

Guasha

Guasha is one of my favorite treatment techniques, and easily taught to do at home.  Guasha is similar to cupping but quicker, and in a clinical setting I use disposable tools which makes it easier as well!  I use guasha on the back for stiff necks, frozen shoulders, insomnia and anxiety, breast pain or chest tightness, coughing, skin conditions, upper respiratory infections, muscle spasms, systemic inflammation and stress to name a few.

Facial guasha is incorporated into my facial rejuvenation treatments but also used for sinus congestion, headaches, TMJ, eye strain, stress and insomnia.

Tuina

Tuina is a massage technique similar to Shiatsu and is typically done clothed. Neck and shoulder tightness respond very well to this technique.
